In 2011, archaeologists found the remains of a 400-year-old Shakespeare playhouse – The Curtain Theatre – behind a pub in Shoreditch, East London. Now, the site is undergoing a thorough excavation to recover any artefacts and structures still intact beneath the surface. Once the dig is over, the remains will then be featured at The Stage – Galliard’s luxury, mixed-use development and joint venture project – in a dedicated heritage centre and amphitheatre.
